Summer time training

Daniel Dockree, 15, was out in front of his Aberdeen apartment building when I happened by.

He was twisting and spinning his hockey stick with a puck held in place against the blade and shaft by centrifugal force. He was flipping the puck into the air off the stick and then twirling the stick like a baton before trying to catch the puck on the shaft or blade.

I asked if he was trying to work the actions into his hockey game.  “No I just like to do tricks.”

He plays house league hockey at Coronation Arena.
