Catholic Football Final

I’ve covered a lot of high school sports over my career, and a lot of football, but Thursday’s game at Tim Hortons Field for the @HWCDSB senior boys championship might have been the craziest game I’ve seen. St. Thomas More Knights started quickly and rolled out to a commanding 31-1 halftime lead, making it look easy over the Cardinal Newman Cardinals. Not sure what kind of a pep talk the Newman lads got in the dressing room, but they came out flying, scoring FIVE second half TD’s en route to a 35-31 win over the stunned Knights. Both squads move on to GHAC semi-finals next week. Here’s a look at today’s action. – Barry Gray
