Members of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry marked the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Ridgeway Sunday at Dundurn Park.

The battle against Fenians, a group of expatriate Irishmen, was the first for the regiment.  At the time they were known as the 13th Battalion.  Several units of the Province of Canada met the invaders at Ridgeway but eventually lost the battle.

Following the ceremony at Dundurn Castle, the unit marched to the John Weir Foote Armouries on Jame Street along York Boulevard where command was turned over to Lt.-Col. Jan-Peter Hoekstra from Lt.-Col. Gary McQueen.
