BR Xpression

Bishop Ryan’s popular singing group, BR Xpression, held a series of concerts for local elementary school kids Friday along with the their dance group Celtic Audacity and their Junior Xpression singing group. The 200-voice BR Xpression contemporary vocal ensemble is holding a series of concerts to raise funds for a trip to New York to compete in an international festival. The student choir, which was founded at Hamilton’s Bishop Ryan high school by music teacher Dave Tabone, is holding three evening concerts April 10, 11, 12 at the school’s Theatre and Performing Arts Centre. Each concert starts at 7 p.m. The concerts, backed by a rock band, will feature performances of current Billboard hits and classic rock favourites, including “House of the Rising Sun, ” “Stairway to Heaven, ” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” BR Expression is travelling to New York in late May to participate in an International Heritage Music Festival Event. The group has won gold medals in previous festivals in Chicago, Boston and Nashville. Tickets to the three evening concerts at Bishop Ryan are $10, or three for $25, available at the school office or at the door.
