Tim Hortons Field, One Month Out

With a month to go before the Ticats take to the field for their first home game of the 2014 season, I dropped by the new stadium this week for a look at the progress. Yes, there is progress, as workers scramble over the structure in a race against time. Will it be ready? I’ll leave it for others to decide. Have a look. – Barry Gray

Firefighters battle Bol-o-drome fire

Fire broke out around noon-hour at the five pin bowling lanes on Parkdale Avenue North–Bol-o-drome. Not one was seriously injured in the blaze which firefighters quickly knocked down.  The building manager was alone in the building at the time.

Military Tattoo

The 23rd anniversary of the Canadian International Military Tattoo was held this past weekend at the First Ontario Centre in Hamilton. Celebrating, among other things, the 100th anniversary of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, and commemorating the 100th anniversary of the beginning of WWI. The event featured both Hamilton and area pipe bands, singers, dancers, fiddlers, and military history and tradition. Here’s a look at some of the show. – Barry Gray
